Questions people ask

Do UK cam creators pay tax?

Yes. Income from creating is usually self-employed income, so you register for Self Assessment, report your profit and pay Income Tax and National Insurance on it.

What is the trading allowance?

The first £1,000 of self-employed income in a tax year is tax-free. If your total creator income is under that, you may not need to tell HMRC.

When do I pay?

Tax for a tax year (6 April to 5 April) is paid by 31 January the following year. If your bill is over £1,000 you will usually also make payments on account, due 31 January and 31 July.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is a rough estimate using published 2026/27 rates. Your real bill depends on your expenses, other income and circumstances, so speak to an accountant.
